The land is medicine.
We help communities develop their own land-based detox programs, and train their staff to facilitate them. Healing delivered by the community, in the community, on their own territory.
Your community. Your program. Your people.
Niwakomakanak does not run its own intake or deliver detox directly. Our service is building capacity where it belongs. We work alongside your community to design a land-based detox program format rooted in your territory, your protocols, and your language, then we train your staff to facilitate it with confidence.
- Program format development with leadership, knowledge keepers, and frontline teams
- Staff facilitation training rooted in the IFOT approach, trauma-informed from day one
- Ceremony and cultural teachings integrated throughout the program design
- Ongoing mentorship and support as your program takes root

Built on real program experience
Our team has delivered land-based healing programming in Northern Ontario and Quebec, including documented land-based initiatives with strong community outcomes. Every program format is planned with the host community. Protocols, language, and local knowledge lead the way.
The land-based team is led by people with lived experience and cultural grounding: Charles Tapas, Karen Wesley, Summer Rickard, Susan Hautala, Redfern Mianscum, Joey Tapas, Brayden Gunner, and John Paul Tapas.
